When I signed on to study abroad this semester in Shanghai, I didn't expect to be involved in a production for a very, very long time. And here I am, beginning tech week with the Shanghai Repertory Theater on their version of Snow Queen. I was originally in the production as an actress but with looming finals and classes rescheduled to performance days, I just couldn't make it work. Unfortunately.
So now I'm on board as a crew member, and made my first return to rehearsals since announcing my departure from the show today. It was great to see all the familiar faces again and I am actually excited for the show. The run through went well tonight.
I wrote before about censorship in the arts in China. I'll write more about it when I'm in America.
