That means, I'm going to Beijing tomorrow! Super excited, as I'll be taking the overnight train there. I've always wanted to take an overnight train. Maybe it was the romanticized image I have of those from movies like White Christmas and North by Northwest. (See above. Cary Grant, Eva Marie Saint, and one long train ride... such a good film.) I think I just have a romanticized image of trains in general. They're really the best way to get around. You get to see the scenery (the great thing about cars) and do whatever you like as far as reading, listening to music, etc. (the great thing about planes). Also, the movie Before Sunrise may have had something to do with this opinion. Watch it and you'll see. Ethan Hawke and Julie Delpy meeting on a European train... and somehow it manages to be brilliant and not cliched.
In any case, I'll be in Beijing for the weekend and will climb the Great Wall, eat Peking Duck, and sightsee. I'm thrilled. Traveling while traveling is always somehow more exciting.
